Saturday March 3, 2012, The Center for Volunteer Caregiving, a non-profit organization, will be holding a special event, the Red Carpet Rendezvous and a Celebration of The Center’s 20th anniversary. The event will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes Fallon Center, 2718 Overbrook Drive, Raleigh. The evening will be the perfect opportunity for our supporters to enjoy a performance by the Cary Players, enjoy hors d’oeuvres, dessert, and wine bar, and hear inspiring testimonials about the work CVC does in the community. In addition, there will be a Silent Auction, which includes everything from jewelry, a ride in a corvette, to Disney tickets. Also, for the first time there will be the Wall of Wine raffle where guests will have the opportunity to receive a "mystery" bottle of wine. The Center’s mission is to provide volunteer services to help Wake County seniors, family caregivers, and adults with disabilities maintain independence, dignity, and quality of life. It committed to ensuring that services are provided with no fees, and volunteers make this possible through the three core services offered: transportation, respite and caregiving support, and in home services. With the societal trend toward two income families (fewer children available to provide assistance to older family members) informal caregiving is a more challenging and stressful task than in years before. For those living alone, social isolation may be compounded by the inability to drive oneself. In Wake County, as in other communities, the cost of privately hiring a companion or paying for transportation or help to support a family’s efforts can be exorbitant, and help can be hard to find. The Center for Volunteer Caregiving offers a solution. Please save the date and we hope to see you there. Tickets are $50 each and can be purchased on line at http://www.volunteercaregiving.org/redcarpetrendezvous or at the event.
